Passionate About Inspiring Others

Mia is native to Houston, Texas. She currently lives in the Houston area. Mia considers herself a lifelong learner. 

Mia has been an educator for twenty years teaching students from childhood to adults. She has specialized in teaching English language learners and designing curriculum for pedagogy and andragogy learning. Mia earned a Bachelor's of Science in Health from Sam Houston State University, Texas. She received her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Reading from Grand Canyon University, Arizona. Mia has all but dissertation defense from the College of Doctoral Studies in the degree of Education in Organizational Leadership with an Emphasis in Organizational Development from Grand Canyon University, Arizona. Mia has served as a mentor teacher through Sam Houston State University, a regional teacher trainer with Harris County Department of Education, Texas, and an ESL teacher in Houston ISD, Aldine ISD, and Klein ISD, Houston, TX. She has also taught women of refugee status from Africa and the Middle East with a not-for-profit serving Montgomery and Harris County, Texas. Mia has had the privilege of teaching students from six continents, training teachers internationally and having her curricula currently taught worldwide.

 

Mia worked extensively for nearly three years to open an international school in Beijing, China. She designed curricula for international English language learners for reading, writing and advanced phonics. She has also designed curriculum for accredited language colleges in the USA, Colorado and Texas.

Mia specializes in accreditation compliance for US colleges and universities, with success of improving colleges accreditation status from warning to approved status within a year.

 

Mia is learning to speak Spanish and hopes to support her students in English development in the same manner. When she is not teaching, Mia enjoys volunteering in her community. She assists in rebuilding homes and buildings effected by natural disasters. She also volunteers in a large-scale nonprofit educational outreach program. Mia also is an avid artist and loves the water. She is excited to contribute to expanding other's ability to be global citizens.

  • Gifted & Talented teaching license- Texas State Board for Educator Certification.
